ICT EDUCATION 

Lead a Digital Change

The Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Education volunteer / internship program seeks the assistance of individuals or group of volunteers and interns with ICT background to conduct researches, take up projects and or teach ICT in Basic and High schools.

Volunteers / interns can also conduct researches or project works that can lead to the development of computer-based educational course ware / application or researches to improve the teaching & learning of ICT.

Interns will work with a technical director.

Volunteers / interns should have appreciable knowledge in ANY ONE of the following;

  • General ICT.

  • Microsoft Office suite.

  • Tools like Articulate Storyline, Camtasia.

  • At least one programming language.

  • Graphic and Web design.

  • Ethical Hacking / Computer Security.

TEACHING 

Touch a Little Heart

This program seeks the assistance of individuals or group of volunteers and interns to research, take projects and or teach at Nursery, Primary, Junior and Senior High schools in under-served communities in order to promote quality education, literacy and numeracy.  Volunteers / interns can choose to volunteer during regular school time or opt for vacation classes. Volunteers wanting to opt for the vacation classes should form a group of not less than two (2) volunteers.

Tasks;

  • Teach any one of the following;

    • Numeracy, literacy, Foreign language - English, French, Dutch, etc,  STEMEnvironmental Studies.

  • Organize creative activities like Music & Dance, Arts.

  • Educational research / projects.

  • Sports; Soccer, athletics, Basket & Volleyball to any physical activity you will want to introduce us to...

 

Volunteers / interns will work in collaboration with local professional teachers.

Schools teaching periods are between;

September - DecemberFIRST TERM

January - April  - SECOND TERM

May - August     - THIRD TERM

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

Leave An Indelible Memory

This program seeks the assistance of individuals or group of volunteers / interns to sponsor and take part in construction of various community complexes such as Schools, Library / Computer Labs, Recreational centers, latrine, overhead water storage systems for schools and others in under served communities using locally available building materials and labour.

Tasks;

  • Finance & or take part in the construction of a new structure.

  • Sponsor and or take part in the renovation and general maintenance of existing structures.

Interns may also chose to conduct research or launch projects that can lead to the alleviation of poverty through skills transfer.

Task;

  • Research / Skills transfer & training in Agriculture - snail, mushroom, grasscutter, vegetable production, Post harvest loses etc..
  • Batik tie & dye, bead, bracelets, slippers and soap making, Fashion Design.
  • Business/start-up incubation for the locals.
  • Grants & Proposal writing training.
  • Research into the craft & artisan industry of Ghana.

About Alavanyo

Your Beautiful Community

Alavanyo is a community of seven towns in the Hohoe Municipality. It's 27Km from Kpando to the south and 13km to Hohoe in the North.

 

Alavanyo is surrounded by beautiful forests and mountains, It is also home to Tsatsadu Waterfalls in Alavanyo Abehenase. Most of the residents are farmers and hunters.  The people of Alavanyo are very friendly, cheerful and welcoming. The main dialect is Ewe. The temperature is mostly warm during the day and cool at night. 

​More than 80% of the population depends on treated pipe-born water.

The festival celebrated by the people is SASA which is organised by four traditional areas (Sovie, Alavanyo, Saviefe and Akrofu), it is massively attended and enjoyed by many from far and near.

Alavanyo is also recovering from a century old protracted land conflict and will be grateful for your support to recuperate.
